This is a Full-time position in Toronto, ON posted November 22, 2018.

The Role:

Nourish by Medcan is looking for an individual who is passionate about creating delicious healthy food. Attention to detail and a strong work ethic are required in this position. The individual works together with other Nourish team members to ensure a flawlessly executed final product that supports our goal to encourage our patrons to Eat Well. Live Well.

The Accountabilities

  • Review the daily production sheets with the Executive Chef, and Sous Chef
  • Adhere to standardized recipes and specifications to maintain consistency and ensure all menu standards are met
  • Participate in the food preparation for outlets, specific functions and catering events
  • Keeps work station clean and organized including fridge’s/freezers, countertops and stove tops
  • Ensures that station opening and closing procedures are carried out to standard
  • Ensures that all food products are handled, stored, prepared and served safely in accordance with Food Safety guidelines
  • Other reasonable duties as assigned

The Requirements

  • At minimum 1-year previous Kitchen/Cook experience in a fast-paced Restaurant/Catering operation
  • Experience working for a health inspired kitchen would be an asset
  • Knowledge and skill to operate basic kitchen equipment. knife skills, including the ability to cut, core, peel, shape, and clean fruit and vegetables is required
  • Flexibility to work assigned kitchen shifts, including early mornings and weekends (Saturday & Sunday) if required
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):
  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs

Additional Skills & Abilities preferred

  • Exceptional communication skills, command of English language
  • A culinary training degree is preferred
  • A valid Food Handlers Certificate is required

This is full-time role that is scheduled during business hours Monday through Friday.
